Surrey Border Press Reports

 

This filmmaking club in the South East of England, UK is busy using its digital camcorders to make new movies and is keen to share its ideas and activities with others. It manages to get a mention in the Farnham Herald newspaper on a regular basis each month. These are a selection of the press reports which have been submitted.

March 03: Report of drinks all round to celebrate 80th birthday of club founder, Paul Holden. Plus 5 minute video interview of Paul reminiscing back to the war years in the RAF + talk by Don Mouatt on holiday films.

February 03: A report on two competitions, one to make 30 second ads and the second to make 1 minute 'epics'. Also there is a report on the premiere of a new Video: ‘Hampshire History, Mystery & Legends’

January 03: A talk - 'An audio visual experience' by Ron Clements. Also the premiere of a film recently made by the club for the Frimley Park Hospital Children's Ward.

December 02 A competion evening attended by 15 new members seeing a selection of 17 new movies entered in the competition by members.

November 02 A talk on computer video editing systems by Pinnacle with description of the systems demonstrated for non linear editing with final output on miniDV, VHS or DVD.

October 02 Report of four clubs competing using their best new movies. ‘Don’t Forget the Diver’, ‘Another Hot Day’, 'Historic Alresford' plus premiere of the club film made for Sailability.

September 02 Description of a tak ‘creative film making’ by Tom Hardwick of Wansfell College. Then a description of various films Tom Hardwick showed and some of his comments.

August 02 Films made as a result of the club outing to Hollycombe Steam Collection are described as are a film about the Canadian Rockies and the making of a violin.

July 02 This was the evening when groups within the club endeavour to make a complete film in just two hours. The films are described.

June 02 Ron Clements with a session helping with ideas for generating film plots. Also some films were shown of last year's 'film in an evening' exercise and a film made of the event.

May 02 Short and entertaining films made from a compilation of extracts from holiday movies. Then the Frensham Ponds Sailability Project premiere made by Surrey Border filmmakers to help this charity.

April 02 A talk by Christine Collins showing how the added dimension of mood music, synchronised with the action, stimulates a more complete immersion in the emotions of the topic and so brings a film to life.

March 02  Report of a talk and selection of films made by Val Ellis, President of the IAC. Including ‘Hair’, 'Greenland 1992', Here She Comes', a railway film shot in the States and 'We Shall Make The Desert Bloom'.

February 02 Reporting a club competition with films: ‘Living in the Dark’, ‘Oh Boy!’, ‘Zebon Copse’, 'Lord Mayor Show', and 'Arson at Yately'. Also mentioned is a film about the Alton and Basingstoke Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit.
