Club Christmas Lunches
Christmas lunches with Surrey Border Film & Video Makers
Surrey Border is a very sociable club. Some groups meet regularly for lunch and other social get togethers while all members do their utmost to congregate for the annual Christmas lunch. This is held in a variety of locations, mainly golf clubs or well recommended hotels.

This was held on 4th December. Pictures will follow. Sorry for the delay but the webmaster has been sunning himself in the Canarie Islands. He will make up for lost time shortly.

On the menu were the usual roasts and a large range of desserts. The atmosphere was very congenial. At the end of the main meal Rita Wheeler entertained us with a speech while we all finished off with coffee/tea and mince pies.

For the second year running this event took place at
Camberley Heath Golf Club. The club has a large modern clubhouse

Christmas lunch 2003 in the Alton House Hotel
For the Christmas lunch December 2003. the club booked a room at the Alton House Hotel. The
atmosphere was convivial and members were in good spirits. The WriteAngle group of the club had
decided to ask members if they would mind taking part in a crowd scene for their latest film.
Everyone seemed to think this was an amusing idea and rather different from the usual social get-together
before a meal. The scene was simple: two long-lost sweethearts were due to meet up. In the crowd they
couldn't find each other until the man got up on a chair and called out "Alice". Everyone paused their
conversation and looked round to see who was calling out. Alice replied "I'm here" and the rest is history -
or at least was captured for inclusion in the next film. The location for both the filmmaking and the
lunch was superb. The discussions after the meal went on well into the afternoon and it was getting
dark when the party finally wound up.
Christmas lunch 2002 at the Falcon Hotel in Farnborough
The venue for this year's Christmas lunch was the Falcon Hotel in Farnborough. We were fortunate enough to arrange to have the dining room to ourselves which made for a lovely warm social atmosphere. After pre lunch drinks in the bar next door we settled in for a leisurely relaxed meal with plenty of fine wine and good food. All members enjoyed themselves and as a result it was late when the celebrations reluctantly came to an end.
Christmas lunch at the Frensham Ponds Hotel December 2001
28 members and spouses had a very enjoyable Christmas Lunch at the Frensham Pond Hotel on Sunday 9 December in a most pleasant private room with a view out onto to lake. Mike Sanders presented certificates to winners in the Members’ Competition held on 7 December. Chairman David Jackson thanked Paddy Haines for his excellent organisation and Alex Dove made a short speech in reply. As an unexpected bonus, last minute price reductions meant that the sum of £79 was raised towards the new projector.
