Christmas lunches with Surrey Border Film & Video Makers
Surrey Border is a very sociable club. Some groups meet regularly for lunch and other social get togethers while all members do their utmost to congregate for the annual Christmas lunch. This is held in a vaiety of locations, mainly golf clubs or well recommended hotels.
Christmas 2008 at the Farnham House Hotel
On the menu were the usual roasts and a large range of desserts. There was plenty of wine and the atmosphere
was very congenial. At the end of the main meal Gordon entertained us with a speech while we finished off with coffee/tea
and mince pies.

Christmas 2006 at Oak Park Golf Club
For the third year running this event took place at a golf club but this year at Oak Park Golf
Club in Crondal. The club has a large modern clubhouse which provided an ideal venue for our celebrations. It
had a large bar on the ground floor adjacent to where we were to eat.

For the second year running this event took place at Camberley Heath Golf Club. The club has a large
modern clubhouse built in the last 20 years. It provided an ideal venue for our celebrations. It has a large

Christmas lunch 2004 in Camberley Heath Golf Club
This year it took place at Camberley Heath Golf Club, situated between Camberley and Frimley. The
club has a large modern clubhouse built in the last 20 years, to replace the picturesque but rambling
old building. It has a large bar on the ground
floor open to people enjoying Sunday lunches as well as club members. The drinks were at pub prices which

Christmas lunch 2003 in the Alton House Hotel
For the Christmas lunch, December 2003 the club booked a room at the Alton House Hotel. The atmosphere
was convivial and members were in good spirits. The WriteAngle group of the club had decided to ask members
if they would mind taking part in a crowd scene for their latest film. Everyone seemed to think this was
an amusing idea and rather different from the usual social get together before a meal. The scene was simple,
two long lost sweethearts were due to meet up. In the crowd they couldn't find each other until the man got up
on a chair and called out "Alice". Everyone paused their conversation and looked round to see who was calling
out. Alice replied "I'm here" and the rest is history - or at least has been captured for inclusion in the
next film. The location for both the filmmaking and the lunch was superb. The discussions after the meal
went on well into the afternoon and it was getting dark when the party finally wound up.

Christmas lunch 2002 at the Falcon Hotel in Farnborough
The venue for this year's Christmas lunch was the Falcon Hotel in Farnborough. We were fortunate enough to arrange to have the dining room to ourselves which made for a lovely warm social atmosphere. After pre lunch drinks in the bar next door we settled in for a leisurely relaxed meal with plenty of fine wine and good food. All members enjoyed themselves and as a result it was late when the celebrations reluctantly came to an end.
